After experiencing difficulty with my own mental health, I had to wait for 18 months for treatment on the National Health Service. Whilst I have total respect for our NHS, I decided this wasn’t good enough, and that there needed to be more counsellors available to help those in distress when they need it the most.
I started training to be a counsellor later in life after an accident left me registered as disabled. Waiting lists were at an all time high, and I was studying throughout the COVID Pandemic, learning both face to face and online consultations. Studying at such a crucial time afforded the recognition the impact that the isolation, global fear and associated trauma was going to have on our already overstretched mental health support departments. I am now a registered member of the BACP, abiding by their ethics and codes of practice, ensuring that I offer my clients the very best service possible.
I have not only my formal training and qualifications to support my clients but lived experience and empathy. I have working experience of many mental health issues, working with young adults and adults; including , but not limited to, clients with autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD), trauma, grief, disabilities, depression, self-harm and suicide ideation.
I offer a £5 initial consultation purely for booking purposes that will be refunded if you chose to continue as you need to feel happy with your counsellor and trust they have your best interests at heart. If you do not feel comfortable you will not lose excessive money or feel obligated. Choosing a therapist is as essential as wearing the right size shoe.
I believe we are all capable of working through our problems and becoming happier, more balanced people, whatever our experiences have tried to tell us. I am a strong believer of the power of counselling and improving life for my clients.
There are many benefits of talking with a trained counsellor. Some, but not all are:
